Choosing a mobile RPG that respects your time
Mobile RPGs have a reputation problem, and it's mostly earned. Too many pad their length with grind that exists to slow you down rather than to challenge you. The good ones, like Emberbound Tales, save the depth for combat and writing instead.
When I'm deciding whether an RPG is worth recommending, I watch how it handles interruption. Can I close it mid-dungeon and pick up exactly where I left off? If a game punishes you for having a life, it's not built for a phone.
I also look at the first two hours closely. That's where a mobile RPG either earns your trust with a hook or loses you to a wall of tutorials. If the story hasn't given me one reason to care by then, I'm usually out.
My advice: don't chase the longest game, chase the one with combat you'd happily do a hundred times. Length is easy to fake. Fun encounters are not.
